Country Living Kitchen the toy route to celebrity stardom?
Some toys just remind you of your childhood, the Anatex Country Living Kitchen is one such toy. Just after World War II my uncle returned home and on Sunday mornings the kitchen became his empire. My mum and aunt together with my cousin and I used to go to Sunday Mass and on our return we would be greeted by the most flavorful odors. What my uncle used to do was to chop vegetables, particularly root vegetables like carrots, turnips and parsnips, into tiny quarter inch squares and then boil them together with a flavoring cube and make us a soup. My mouth still waters at the thought of that wonderful soup which warmed us up on cold winter’s days. I suppose it was that which gave me my love of cooking.
Because of this I think that all children should be encouraged to cook. Yes I know that may mean a very messy kitchen but if you start them off with play kitchens by the time real food is being prepared they may well be used to being tidy. The Country Living Kitchen is just such a play kitchen. Your little ones will have their own stove to “cook” the pretend food which is included. Afterwards they can wash up the dishes in the sink and put all the unused play food away in the cupboards. Just think if you start them cooking early then they will be able to prepare their own snacks when they get home from school. Who knows they may even become celebrity chefs on television.
