Adding Romertopf Clay Cookware to Your Kitchen
One of my neighbors has the kitchen I’d like to have for myself. She has plenty of counterspace and beautiful stainless steel appliances with all of the latest bell and whistles. There are lots of windows that look out on a beautiful garden and the children’s playset so she can easily keep an eye on the kids while she’s cooking. It’s a great set-up! She’s an excellent cook so I love to go over and help her when she’s trying something new to see if I can learn a few tricks. One of her favorite new additions to her kitchen tools is her Romertopf Clay Cookware.
My Favorite Sunbeam Heritage Stand Mixer
While I do a decent amount of cooking and baking in our house, I am sorely lacking on some of the more essential kitchen tools. There’s a couple of reasons for it of course. One is that when I am out and about shopping, buying new kitchen equipment isn’t the first thing on my list - it’s usually groceries or clothing. Another reason is that my budget is a bit tight, especially these days! But one of the items I really did want to treat myself to recently was this Sunbeam Heritage 350 Watt Stand Mixer.
Country Living Kitchen the toy route to celebrity stardom?
Some toys just remind you of your childhood, the Anatex Country Living Kitchen is one such toy. Just after World War II my uncle returned home and on Sunday mornings the kitchen became his empire. My mum and aunt together with my cousin and I used to go to Sunday Mass and on our return we would be greeted by the most flavorful odors. What my uncle used to do was to chop vegetables, particularly root vegetables like carrots, turnips and parsnips, into tiny quarter inch squares and then boil them together with a flavoring cube and make us a soup. My mouth still waters at the thought of that wonderful soup which warmed us up on cold winter’s days. I suppose it was that which gave me my love of cooking.
An Inexpensive & Stylish Set of Bread Pans
I think that what most endeared me to these mini loaf bread pans is their aesthetics, these pans are absolutely beautiful. These clay bread pans really have an Old World look and feel to them, even if I didn’t use them they would be perfect to just display in your kitchen or dining room. And these pans aren’t made just to look at as they actually work just as advertised! When I got these didn’t believe that I would just be able to soak them for ten minutes and then set them and forget them (well set a timer to remind me of course), but they actually work and you get 4 perfect mini loafs every time.
Taco Fans Have Their Very Own Soup Now
My husband is a taco maniac. He can cook and build the most fantastic tacos you will ever have the privilege of eating. I think that’s great and so do the kids. However, I love soup. Now, why can’t a taco be a soup, too? That’s why we had to make a Chicken Taco Soup in our crockpot just to prove it can be done. We make our tacos with diced chicken sometimes, so thought we would give that a try first.
A Round Flan Pan in Two Great Sizes
If you’ve never tried it, flan is a very unique and tasty dessert. This egg-based dessert is basically a rich custard dish, not unlike crème brulee but without the caramel-glazed top. It can be a little tricky to prepare sometimes. Some tips for getting great results include remembering to swirl rather than stir the custard as it’s heating, and to set your flan pan into a water bath for baking. Of course it always goes smoother with the right tools, which is one of the reasons this round flan pan from Kaiser is a must-have for any serious flan baker.
